Cabaret

Cabaret (1972) - 119 minutes

"Here life ees beutiful" hisses the lascivious Master of Ceremonies as he welcomes everyone to the Kit-Kat Klub, a sleazy Berlin nightery that mirrors the decay and decadence of Germany on the eve of Hitler's rise to power. So begins this haunting musical drama about the affairs of an egocentric American girl who dreams of becoming a star while working as a singer in this third-rate cabaret.

Wearing green fingernails and crimson lipstick, Liza Minnelli gives an extraordinary Oscar-winning performance as Sally Bowles - Part kook, part waif, part child. Together with Oscar-winner Joel Grey as the prancing, satanic emcee, they transfix the screen with songs like, "Money, Money, Money," "Wil Kommen" and "Mein Herr."
